Steelhead and Salmon Fishing Records

Each time you cast your line into the water, there is a chance that you will tie into that fish of a lifetime. Whether a personal best or a bona fide world record, it is the anticipation and thrill of the unknown that makes our sport so exciting. Add to that, the competitive opportunity to catch a larger fish than your buddy and perhaps even winning a friendly wager in the process, adds extra fun into our fishing experience.

The picture at the right is the largest King salmon taken by a sport fisherman. While it was caught 20 years ago, each year there are stories of commercially taken Kings in excess of 100 lbs, so it is inevitable that even this venerable record will be broken some day.

Following is a list of selected State and Provincial records for anadromous fish. We sincerely hope that your next fishing trip will result in your name replacing one of those on this list!
