Cellulose Sponge Material

Fish Sponge products use the finest high density cellulose sponge available. We chose to use sponge in our designs for several reasons:

1. It's made from wood fiber and is completely biodegradable.
2. It floats, so it serves as a bobber
3. It absorbs oil and water based scents/attractants.
4. It's soft so fish will hold it their their mouth longer

From years of testing in rivers we know that our sponge is strong enough to withstand the rigors of salmon and steelhead fishing. Further, because it is a natural product, it accepts our proprietary dyes to increase visibility. Unlike the the hydrocarbon based closed-cell foam insulation that others have used for "sponge rags", our cellulose sponge feels softer in a fish's mouth.

Important Note: Your Fish Sponge product may shrink, disfigure, or discolor due to drying and storage. Just wet it and it will regain its shape. From the factory, we add a small amount of Sorbitol, which is a naturally occurring sugar, or with propylene glycol to act as a moisturizing agent or humactant. It will wash out immediately upon wetting.

We suggest you always wet your sponge prior to applying your attractant/scent. Also after use, we recommend that you rinse out any residual scent and dry your sponge, prior to storage. Attractants left in the sponge for extended periods may spoil and if the sponge remains wet, it may pick up mold or mildew.
